2015 Senior Portfolio

One of the three classes that we take in our final semester in the Georgia State Graphic Design BFA program is Senior Portfolio. In this class (taught by Stan Anderson) we focus on creating pieces that will bolster our portfolio and make it stand out among the crowd of people applying for jobs. We also have the opportunity to create our stationary set and build out our résumés and learn the a lot of tips and tricks for interviewing and the ever-looming job search. Here is a sampling of the work I was able to create in this class.

Promax BDA - My Story Challenge

One of the projects we had to put together was one in which we were challenged to create a piece that expressed our own personal voice. Or in other words, do whatever we have always wanted to do. I chose put together a publication called Constant which consists of 8 interviews with people from all walks of life. These interviews are pointed directly at the daily routine and the uniqueness found in each individual's day. It was such a fun project and I am incredibly passionate about merging real human stories with my design, so this nicely summed fit the "Personal Voice" brief.

Our final project was to build a postcard set that depicted the Seven Deadly Sins. I chose to take an illustrative approach and create drop-caps that embodied each of the seven deadly sins: greed, gluttony, wrath, sloth, lust, envy and pride.

Overall I am happy with the work I have produced this semester and in this class. I had the chance to step outside my usual tropes and create work that speaks a lot about myself and what I enjoy doing. I am especially looking forward to continuing to move forward with the Constant Magazine and begin learning the stories of more people. Stay tuned for more to come from that!

Project 5 – Atlanta Streetcar

For our final project in Graphic Design through Advertising, my group and I were tasked with developing an awareness campaign for the upcoming launch of the Atlanta Streetcar. Our concept was based on educating our chosen demographic on the benefit that the Streetcar can bring to your life as well as serve as an introduction to the 12 stops along the route. We produced a 30-second and 15-second spot along with the concept for website, outdoor ad campaign, postcard collection and social media campaign.

Project 4 – Unplug Atlanta PSA

Unplug Atlanta is a campaign created by our group that focuses on alerting teens and college students about their overactive use of technology and invites them to take a step back, unplug and enjoy the world around them. We approached this campaign with a sense of humor and wanted to grab our audience's attention with outrageous visuals and a humorous concept. We delivered a one 50-second video spot as well as created a guerrilla marketing campaign using a number of branded stickers that would be passed out and posted around town to help raise awareness and direct traffic to our online experience.

TV Show Premiere Teaser Poster – Project 2

The goal of this project was to create a poster that teased the upcoming season of a popular television show using specific references to the show's existing ideas and tease what might be coming in the future. I choose to do the FX series 'Fargo' and the Netflix Original Series 'House of Cards'. Both shows will be premiering in 2015.

Self Promotional Ad – Project 1

The goal of this project was to create to personal advertisements to hypothetically sell ourselves back to our internship. Over the summer I interned at Mammoth Ideas in Atlanta and I had an incredible time over there. We had lots of great inside jokes and the company put a large emphasis on culture fit within the company and making everyone feel welcome. The following two pieces attempt to illustrate the fun and unique culture they created and how I helped contribute and shape it.
